Matt Saunders is a scenic designer, performer and visual artist living in Philadelphia. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech and is also a graduate of the Scuola Internazionale dell’ Attore Comico, under master teacher Antonio Fava. Matt is a founding company member of New Paradise Laboratories, an Obie Award-Winning experimental theatre company.

Outside of his own company, NPL, he has alligned himself with artists and institutions that share his desire to create new and original works of theatre. He has designed for the Bessie Award-Winning Headlong Dance Theater, The Arden Theatre Company, Theatre Exile, Brat Productions, the Obie Award-Winning Pig Iron Theatre Company and the Tony Award Winning Children's Theatre Company.

As a visual artist, Matt works primarily as a painter and photographer. Some of his photographs were recently purchased by Warner Brothers Studios for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film Lady in the Water.

Matt Saunders is designing Les contes d’Hoffmann for Temple University in Philadelphia and the Peabody Opera Theatre as a co-production. Further details of his work can be seen on his website, www.mattsaunders.net.
