Paige Whitley–Bauguess

Baroque dance soloist and historian Paige Whitley–Bauguess interprets, recreates, and performs Baroque theatre dance in venues all over the world both as a soloist and with her dance partner Thomas Baird. She is director of the Baroque Arts Project, Atlantic Dance Theatre, and two historical social dance troupes (youth and adult) in New Bern, NC. Paige is a frequent guest director and choreographer for the Opera Theatre Department at East Carolina University where she directed Handel's Acis and Galatea in 2004 and is currently directing Mozart’s Il re pastore.

Ms. Whitley-Bauguess has produced two DVDs: Dance of the French Baroque Theatre and Introduction to Baroque Dance — Dance Types. In New Bern, NC, she is the co–director with Barry Bauguess of the Baroque Arts Project, Baroque dance and music ensemble, and the Artistic Director of Atlantic Dance Theatre, a dance company, presenter, and service organization.

Paige has danced as a guest artist with Chatham Baroque, Little Orchestra Society (NY-Lincoln Center), Dunbar Early Music Festival (Northwestern University), The Bloomington Early Music Festival Orchestra (Indiana University), Pacific Baroque Orchestra (Vancouver), Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Berkshire Bach Festival, and Apollo’s Banquet (NY), and has appeared regularly with Capriole in Williamsburg, VA. Her festival appearances include the Appalachian State Arts Festival, NC Dance Festival, Rutgers University SummerFest, Sapporo Early Music Festival, Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, NC Bach Festival, the Baroque Music Festival in Saratoga, Boston Early Music Festival, and the Nakamichi Baroque Music Festival. In June 2005, she and Thomas Baird performed at the inaugural Magnolia Baroque Festival in Winston–Salem.

Ms. Whitley–Bauguess holds an MA in Dance History from the University of California at Riverside and a BFA in Ballet from the NC School of the Arts. You can visit Paige online at www.BaroqueDance.com.
